2 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trek from Kigali

Overview of 2 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trek from Kigali

A 2 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trek from Kigali is one of the most popular and cost-effective gorilla safari packages in East Africa. This short adventure combines the convenience of starting in Kigali, Rwanda, with the affordability of gorilla trekking in Uganda’s famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Since the park is only a few hours’ drive from Kigali, many travelers choose this cross-border safari instead of flying to western Uganda.

The safari begins with a scenic drive from Kigali through Rwanda’s rolling hills and into southwestern Uganda via the Cyanika or Katuna border. Upon arrival in Bwindi, you’ll settle into your lodge and prepare for the highlight of the trip—meeting the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural rainforest habitat. Home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, Bwindi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its biodiversity, ancient forest, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.

On the second day, you’ll join experienced Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers for a guided trek through the dense rainforest. Depending on the location of your assigned gorilla family, the hike may last between two and six hours. Once the gorillas are located, you’ll spend one incredible hour observing these gentle giants as they feed, play, and interact within their family groups.

This safari is ideal for travelers looking for an authentic gorilla trekking experience while benefiting from Uganda’s more affordable gorilla permits and the easy accessibility of Kigali.
